Katie’s Story: From Survivor to Supporter
Katie Hoyt, a Wings support group graduate, shares her journey of healing from childhood sexual abuse by a family member. After repressed memories surfaced in her 30s, Katie sought therapy and eventually found the courage to join Wings, where she began to confront her trauma and shame.
Today, Katie lives in Colorado, working as an engineer, ranch hand, and trauma-informed life coach. She embraces life with gratitude, viewing healing as an ongoing journey of growth and self-compassion. Through Wings, she learned to carry her trauma gently, allowing it to be a part of her without letting it define her.
Katie now journeys alongside other survivors, offering hope that acceptance and peace are attainable. She emphasizes the importance of patience, grace, and healthy boundaries for loved ones supporting survivors, highlighting that healing is possible with understanding and support.
