Ellen Bywaters

Since earning her BS in Rehabilitation Counseling, Ellen Bywaters has dedicated her time to extensive fundraising and special event coordination in both volunteer and professional capacities. Highlights include Program Director at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Houston, TX, multiple leadership roles within the Littleton Public Schools District, and the Denver Ballet Guild Board of Directors. After a recent retirement from real estate, Ellen is pleased to dedicate her time and efforts to the WINGS Foundation. She serves as Chair of the Board.

Trent Feist

A “graduate” of a WINGS support group, Trent Feist joined the board to represent the unique position of male survivors of childhood sexual abuse. He is a Business Performance Advisor with Insperity where he works with local small businesses leveraging human capital management opportunities. Trent has served in various volunteer capacities as a board member for The Colorado Children’s Chorale, Treasurer of The Englewood Education Foundation, and Assistant Scout Master for The Boy Scouts of America. He is currently Board Treasurer for WINGS.


Monica Reger

Monica is a Senior Vice President of Retail Services at FirstBank.  She is currently responsible for the strategic development of consumer products and customer experience initiatives.  She has held multiple roles at FirstBank including lending, managing a Treasury Management sales team and managing multiple operational areas, including fraud prevention and branch operations.  She has served on the board of the Wild Plum Center, the YESS Institute, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation Identity Theft and Financial Fraud and has volunteered with numerous other organizations.  She is an almost-native to Colorado and grew up near Boulder.  She earned her BS in Business Administration from Colorado State University and now resides in Arvada with her husband, baby boy, and black-lab mix.  Monica joined the WINGS board in 2017 and currently serves as the Board Treasurer.


Lisa Levin Appel

Lisa Levin Appel was an employee benefits attorney at a large law firm in Chicago for 9 years in the 80’s and 90’s.  She also spent 20 years as a full-time mother and family manager.  For the last 7 years she has served on the Board of Trustees for many local Colorado non-profit organizations, most notably Colorado Ballet and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, where she chaired the Development Committee and for the last several years, chairs the Compensation Committee. Lisa joined the WINGS board in 2014 and currently serves as Board Secretary.

Jennifer Dougherty

Jennifer Dougherty, MBA is a graduate of a WINGS Support Group as well as WINGS’ Speak Out! program and joined the board in 2017 after chairing the 2016 WINGS Race for Healing Committee.  She is a currently a Project Manager for CRB, a Design, Construction and Consulting Solutions firm specializing in life sciences and advanced technologies.  Jen manages cross functional project teams and is responsible for delivering projects on time and within budget while adhering to technical specifications.  She has experience as a volunteer with various non-profit organization, while this is her first time serving on a board.  Jen is originally from Kansas City, MO and moved to CO in 1999 to attend the United States Air Force Academy.  She currently resides in Broomfield.
