The WINGS Foundation Board of Directors is a governance and working board made up of diverse professionals and adult survivors in the communities WINGS serves. Since earning her BS in Rehabilitation Counseling, Ellen Bywaters has dedicated her time to extensive fundraising and special event coordination in both volunteer and professional capacities. Highlights include Program Director at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Houston, TX, multiple leadership roles within the Littleton Public Schools District, and the Denver Ballet Guild Board of Directors. After a recent retirement from real estate, Ellen is pleased to dedicate her time and efforts to the WINGS Foundation. She serves as Chair of the Board.
Lisa Levin Appel
Lisa Levin Appel was an employee benefits attorney at a large law firm in Chicago for 9 years in the 80’s and 90’s. She also spent 20 years as a full-time mother and family manager. For the last 7 years she has served on the Board of Trustees for many local Colorado non-profit organizations, most notably Colorado Ballet and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, where she chaired the Development Committee and for the last several years, chairs the Compensation Committee. Lisa joined the WINGS board in 2014 and currently serves as Board Secretary.
Donna L. Parrish, M.A., LPC
Donna Parrish, M.A., LPC, is Associate Director for Diversity and Inclusion for The Kempe Center for the Prevention & Treatment of Child Abuse & Neglect. Donna is a clinician by trade, but most importantly, she is a community organizer and social justice advocate. She has spent more than 21 years dedicating her career to the upward mobility of exceptional systemic outcomes, primarily through training, coaching and organizational change management. The last 10 years of her career have focused exclusively on the child welfare system in a variety of capacities. She is excited about bringing all of her background and experience to help expand WINGS’ mission, resources and inclusive reach. She serves as Chair of the Nominating Committee.
Meredith Karre, J.D.
Meredith Karre, J.D., is an Assistant County Attorney for Adams County, Colorado. Meredith’s legal practice focuses on the protection and wellbeing of children and juveniles. She works extensively with “at risk” youth through the juvenile delinquency courts and the anti-human trafficking task force. Prior to joining the County Attorney’s office, Meredith served as a Guardian ad litem in Adams and Jefferson Counties, actively representing the best interest of children involved in court cases. Meredith’s career and life trajectory continues on a path of serving the wellbeing of others.
A “graduate” of a WINGS support group, Trent Feist joined the board to represent the unique position of male survivors of childhood sexual abuse. He is a Business Performance Advisor with Insperity where he works with local small businesses leveraging human capital management opportunities. Trent has served in various volunteer capacities as a board member for The Colorado Children’s Chorale, Treasurer of The Englewood Education Foundation, and Assistant Scout Master for The Boy Scouts of America. He is currently Board Treasurer for WINGS.
